The way I learned was to go under the Audio MIDI Preferences application on my MAC. Then I needed to create an Aggregate Device by clicking the '+' button in the bottom right hand corner of the window. Then I selected the USB Audio CODEC as the the preferred input and output for this Aggregate Device during the creation. I had to restart my MAC after I did this to let my DAW recognize the new device. After this, I opened the preferences for my DAW and selected the Aggregate Device instead of the USB Audio CODEC as my interface.' It worked for him. I hope this helps.

The new Panther-ready driver for the FW-1884, TASCAM's FireWire Control Surface and Audio/MIDI Interface, adds a host of new features to the recording interface like improved audio latency, flexible routing options, and SoftLCD Computer Display.
