Microsoft Defender ATP can discover a proxy server by using the following discovery methods:

  • Proxy auto-config (PAC)
  • Web Proxy Auto-discovery Protocol (WPAD)
  • Manual static proxy configuration

If a proxy or firewall is blocking anonymous traffic, make sure that anonymous traffic is permitted in the previously listed URLs.

Warning

Authenticated proxies are not supported. Ensure that only PAC, WPAD, or a static proxy is being used.

Joachim peiper bio. SSL inspection and intercepting proxies are also not supported for security reasons. Configure an exception for SSL inspection and your proxy server to directly pass through data from Microsoft Defender ATP for Mac to the relevant URLs without interception. Adding your interception certificate to the global store will not allow for interception.

To test that a connection is not blocked, open https://x.cp.wd.microsoft.com/api/report and https://cdn.x.cp.wd.microsoft.com/ping in a browser.

Discovery

If you prefer the command line, you can also check the connection by running the following command in Terminal:

The output from this command should be similar to the following:

OK https://x.cp.wd.microsoft.com/api/report

OK https://cdn.x.cp.wd.microsoft.com/ping

Caution

We recommend that you keep System Integrity Protection (SIP) enabled on client machines. SIP is a built-in macOS security feature that prevents low-level tampering with the OS, and is enabled by default.

Hello erwin177,

Thanks for the post in Apple Support Communities.

I understand you're unable to install an app downloaded from a website. Can you provide more detail about what happens when you try installing the app? If you get an error message, what does it say?

I opened android emulator of android studio, i installed nodejs, python i run this: react-native init AwesomeProject cd AwesomeProject react-native run-android. But in react-native run-android. I got errors: What went wrong: Execution failed for task ':app:installDebug'. Com.android.builder.testing.api.DeviceException: java.lang.RuntimeException: N. Npx react-native run-android. Then I plugged in my samsung s6 with usb debugging on and run $ react-native run-android again. Now it appears: Now it appears: NDK is missing a 'platforms' directory. Configuration on demand is an incubating feature. NDK is missing a 'platforms' directory. If you are using NDK, verify the ndk.dir is set to a valid NDK directory. It is currently set to C: Users MSI AppData Local Android Sdk ndk-bundle. If you are not using NDK, unset the NDK variable from ANDROIDNDKHOME or local.properties to remove this warning. Configure project:app NDK is missing a "platforms" directory. If you are using NDK, verify the ndk.dir is set to a valid NDK directory. It is currently set to /Users/lvyongfei/Li. The command line root should be like this: D: MyApps DemoAppreact-native run-android now it will run with out any issue. The problem is your android related info is presents inside the app not t=in the main directory.

Which macOS version are you using? You can check by clicking Apple menu () > About This Mac.

This link is a great guide for installing apps on your Mac for reference: Install and uninstall apps from the Internet or disc on Mac. From your post, it sounds like one of the steps recommended in that link may be helpful if you're seeing an alert that the developer is unidentified. If that's the error you see, check out the details here: Open a Mac app from an unidentified developer.

I hope this helps get you started.

Cheers.
