Java Problem For Mac

In attempting to create a new database in LibreOffice ver 5.3.7. 2 under MacOS High Sierra Version 10.13.4 I receive an error message, 'No Java installation could be found'. Ampeg svt iip manual. Going to the 'Verify Java' Website and using it to check my Save installation, I receive the message 'Congratulations! You have the recommended Java installed (Version 8 Update 171).'

Mac

This is my first MAC ever and I'm still trying to get the hang of navigating my way around. Anyway, I'm also new to Java and I've been practicing on my Windows PC before it permanently died. Now that I'm on this MAC, I installed my JDK and now I need to set the JAVAHOME environment variable. I have no idea what to do.

Can anyone guide me to a solution?

Solved, Thanks to the helpful folks AndreNZ and Ratslinger. This should have been mentioned in the LibreOffice documentation someplace but if it is, I missed it.
